Bill Moyers: "Big Media is Ravenous. It Never Gets
Enough. Always Wants More. And it Will Stop at Nothing to Get It. These
Conglomerates are an Empire, and they are Imperial."
If you are as sick and tired as I am of hearing about the "real estate bubble" or Anna Nicole Smith...then Bill Moyers is right on the money. This is the day and age of Big Brother. Blogging is the solution to Big Brother. The reason I wrote this post is to justify the very reason for blogging and why I do it. My reason is this; I am the man on the street and you can't stop me from saying what I believe to be the truth. It does not matter what school I went to, who I know, who I work for or my race or sex...I will tell it the way it is without corporate editing and filtering.
Should you be taking in the majority of your news and world information form any type of mainstream network, whether it be FOX, CNN, ABC or news print on the door step...all aspects of your life are in one shape, form or another dictated by Big Brother. News about the "real estate bubble" or news about interest rates or news about Iraq....is all "double speak". Many are in fact Brain Washed!
The real truth about our real estate markets and our real estate industry is on the street, and in the blogs and posts of thousands of my fellow writers. But like all the other free and open media of the past (newsprint, Radio, TV, CABLE), this too is under attack by the powers at large. Some day, if we are NOT vigilant, your blog, your web site or your company, due to it's content or not enough CASH to pay, will be filtered into nowhere.
Please take the time and listen to the below mp3 file and you will see the importance of blogging, of RSS and of the Internet, at least in this moment of history.
http://ia310938.us.archive.org/3/items/dn2007-0116/dn2007-0116-1_64kb.mp3 Here is the link again. I could not find this in video anywhere on the net?
The issue of "Net Neutrality" and the direction of the Internet to remain free, open and unfiltered may appear to be on the back burner and may not even be an issue that most brokers care about...but I assure you it is a very important issue that you must be aware of. The First Amendment and the freedom of the press means nothing if it is filtered out before it ever gets there. I wrote this post below a while back if you would like more information on the battle at hand.
The truth is this: Brokers that write blogs perform much more research to keep up with their local markets than Brokers who don't blog. This greater knowledge base becomes a significant competitive advantage over non-blogging Brokers. Blogs build a Brokers' knowledge base and credibility as an expert in their field and provide the real news from the street.
There's no doubt that blogging involves a lot of writing. So what can writing do for you? Writing is at the core of knowledge -- wealth of new ideas -- wealth of creativity. The consistency of writing has helped me get from good salesperson, to world-class salesperson. So I'm throwing it at you as a challenge. Putting your thoughts in writing helps you feel positive about your thinking process and your creativity process. It proves you're a thinker. It guides and validates your positive thought process. It also breeds new ideas, solidifies existing ones, and inspires action.
For those of you out there not blogging and not subscribing to your news and information via RSS feeds, I highly recommend getting with the program. For you to be part of the new Real Estate Revolution, you need to become part of the underlying ebb and flow of the free flowing system of what the Internet is. Think of it this way, if you watch TV and read news print for your information, you are no more or no less educated that the average person on the street....so why would they pay you to be their "Expert" professional? I will tell you this, the real experts and the real professionals that will survive in the future are the "Broker On The Street" bloggers.
When you come to understand how powerful this medium is...this transparency, this unfiltered and unsolicited power you have to be the lone voice from the clover in Horton Hears A Who, then you too will fight to keep the Internet what it should be and what it was envisioned to be. A free and open platform accessible to all and filled with rich information untouched by the Orwellian editors.
