Interviewer: Hi I am Kerry White, and thank you for joining us on Metro Brokers TV. I am here with Norm Replin from Metro Brokers Home Sale Options. So Norm you're a Denver native, tell me a little bit about what you did before you became a REALTOR®?
Norm Replin: Well Kerry, first of all, I would like to thank you for having me. You know having grown up in Denver, I have seen a lot of changes. I've grown up in various Denver neighborhoods, actually the son of a home builder here in town and graduated from Colorado State University. I went on to attend the University of Tulsa, College of Law, where I ended up getting my law degree and returning to Denver.
From that point, I practiced law for a time being; actually working for Richmond Homes as their Associate Counsel but the real estate bug was pulling my heartstrings. I was also working as a land man too in the oil and gas industry, through which I gained some experience in the oil and gas industry, negotiating oil and gas leases. But ultimately, I gravitated back towards real estate and started selling real estate as a REALTOR® for a new home builder in the Genesee community- Genesee Homes, and gained some great experience in learning about new home construction in representing my clients now with the background that I gained from that experience.
From that point, I worked as a relocation counselor for a company called Server Relocation and worked as a relocation counselor helping their corporate employees, buy and sell homes and administering their corporate relocation benefits. And of course then I worked as a regular realtor and I have done all of that now for a period of about 20 years.
Interviewer: Great, well tell us a little bit about your company Home Sale Options?
Norm Replin: Well, Home Sale Options is a company that is premised on a little different business model and that different business model is based upon two thing:
First, I work more as a real estate consultant rather than as a boring salesperson. I don't try to sell people, I try to assess their needs and once I assess their needs, I will then develop options for them in terms of what service is best to meet their needs.
Secondly, I offer my services on an hourly basis, package basis or on a regular traditional commission basis. So my clients really appreciate the fact that I can offer them just selected services and I can save them a lot of money.
Interviewer: Perfect, now is that where the real estate consultant comes into, tell us a little about what that means?
Norm Replin: Well, real estate consulting is basically like I said it's not selling to, it's consulting with. So when a person wants to be consulted with they have questions regarding the real estate market, they would like to know whether or not they should move versus they should stay put in their home, I can help them make those decisions. If they have questions about over paying their property taxes, I can represent them in various matters that a lot of realtors may not have that experience or background to really do. So, I'll take my legal experience and push that as far as I can when consulting with people.
